At Western Boone County Community School Corporation, we are committed to providing a high-quality, inclusive education for all students. Our Special Education Department works collaboratively with families, educators, and community partners to support students with disabilities in reaching their full potential.
📘 Our Mission
To ensure that every student with a disability receives a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE), as outlined by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Indiana's Article 7.

Services are individualized to meet the unique needs of each student, including:
- Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Speech and language therapy
- Occupational and physical therapy
- Behavioral and psychological support
- Resource and inclusion classrooms

What to Do if You Suspect A Disability
School-Aged Child (5 to 21 years)
Any individual (i.e.: parent, teacher, principal) who suspects a child has a disability which could require special education services, should contact their child's teacher, school counselor or building principal to discuss options. Within 10 school days, a multi-disciplinary team will review available information to determine if a special education evaluation is needed based on a suspected disability.
Preschool-Aged Child (3 to 5 years old, not kindergarten eligible)

Birth to 3 year old
Contact First Steps, Cluster D for information on early intervention services and to make a referral. First Steps is an Early Intervention System for infants and toddlers with special needs for delays in developmental areas such as speech, language, fine or gross motor skills, social or emotional skills, or cognitive ability.
